This may be some use to you there is nothing wrong with p800 (i`ve used one in uk on 2 networks Orange / o2) all has been fine for 2 weeks. when i set up internet settings Orange already had the configuration sms on their system for the p800, the girl at Technical advice said her husband was testing a p800 for Orange (that was 2 weeks ago) so it will all fall into place in the next week to 10 days. as Orange are often the last to take up a phone, it looks promising, o2 shops still say they won`t adopt it but CPW WILL offer it on o2/voda/Orange.

i used a vodaphone and a O2 sim cards on it, no problem, but i notice the reception for the O2 is stronger than that on Vodaphone.

I am quite glad that are taking their time to release P800 - or the uk nets are delaying it - I hope they insist on a better quality handset - no manufacturer should release their product until it can do what it says on the box (I have never seen handset freezes from time to time in the manual) It will save me a big head ache at work - or am I just being selfish??

I agree but I think that in the case of the P800, most people who own them would be happier to own them early and upgrade them when needed, as the P800 is mainly a "techy"'s phone.

If you were talking about the T300 or similar then you'd be closer to the mark in waiting for it to be 100% before it was released.

I would prefer to have the phone now and get the firmware updated in 2-3 months when things had settled down slightly - especially as it's free.

Here here!! Give me the phone now, I'll get used to the bugs and work my way around them till updates are available (afterall, isn't that what everyone who uses Windows has to do anyway?)

On no account would I expect any company (apart from Microsoft) to release a phone as buggy as the SPV... but considering that the P800's been released in loads of countries almost a month back, with no real problems... surely can't they just release the P800 here and now!!

I reckon I know exactly why the P800 is being delayed in the UK...

I expect Orange to have struck a deal with SE to guarantee that they are the first SP to bring the phone to the UK. Because Orange always take so long to bring a phone to market, it has been delayed. Other SPs can not bring it to market regardless of whether it's ready or not because of this deal.
