If this is in direct competition to the iphone why has O2 taken it on? Or am i just being blind?

if this is in direct competition with the iphone, then surely its better for o2 to have both otherwise they would lose sales to another carrier that had the PRE.
this way they get it all! what the customer taketh away on the iphone side, they giveth back on the PRE side!

Makes sense i guess. Whats going on with the other networks then why are they not getting no exclusives its getting boring with O2 getting everything.

The general idea why O2 have both is this.
The Pre is Palm's last chance before going tits up, so if they gave it to a network like T-Mobile, Orange, whatever, then all O2 would do it change the price of the iPhone to wipe the floor with it. Or keep it unchanged and continue to obliterate the competition like they did with the G1 on T-Mobile. SO, by giving it to O2 instead, they've guarenteed that O2 have to 'play fair' and not favour one or the other. Although I imagine the iPhone will still take priority as usual.

Could be the rest of the networks simply cannot afford it. Or Palm have done the research they need to do and decided O2 is the best network to go for

be interesting to see apples take on it how they feel about it. esp when carrier renewals come around or maybe the decision has already been taken hence o2 bringin this on board now

its not about affording something its about the value you attach to something ie you maybe able to buy a porsche but only drive to the shops every day so you dont wish to spend that much on a car doesnt mean you cant afford it just your not willing to pay that much for something u have a lower need for
