Is there any program you can run, to see if your hardware is all running ok?

You might want to check your start up programs too.. I don't know if this is suggested. If not then follow this;

Start > Run (Shortcut Windows Key + R)

Type: msconfig

on the tabs goto: Startup (Clear all unnecessary applications)

Then on the tabs: Services (Stop all unnecessary startup services)

I did this to my macbook running windows xp / 7 / Vista 64bit and has shaved off 15 sec on startup.

Task Manager? Ctrl + Alt + Delete

I use a Vista Gadget to watch my CPU and RAM usage in real time.
