£499 is the suggested price from SE but shops could set it higer if they want.
Maybe she(her store) is going to sell it for £700 when it comes out and, if so?, you just paid an extra £200 for the phone. I hope i'm wrong but ya never know

@drbrain you are correct as the RRP is the "Recomended Retail Price" the "recomended" price may well be £499 but the price in that shop could be £700 & it`s up to them NOT SE to set the price. they will wait till he`s got the phone then put the price down to a reasonable level.
