it is a well written letter.
i share the same sentiments with eldar
will not slip into the 5th position had they been more honest with themselves.
honest enough to see where they have been lacking, missing, deficient or in excess of.

well at least now, they are trying to make up for the lost time and opportunities.
by launching a brand new message, shuffling leadership positions, concentrating on quality (not quantity) in their portfolio, is gaining back some momentum.
innovations like xperia pureness and the world's first motion activated headphones are a good start for

MWC 2010 imo will be interesting. really interesting
i hope will make us believe again that they are in the frontline of innovation, design and function
like they used to be

make.believe
make us believe more

the ones who are questioning this letter are delusioned by their own love to sony ericsson
by the time a company admits failures even the hardest fanboys should return to reality

thing is they kinda did already by showing a new funner SE so you know what screw this. Eldar will find a love for SE again sooner or later but won't be in on things cause after this letter SE will just stamp fail across his name,

at the very core of eldar's letter is the hope that will change for the better
it's just a proof that deep down inside, eldar is just like us! fanboys
but he is one fanboy who is not blinded by some success.
he wanted to regain its lost glory.

i miss reading positive reviews from eldar
the latest mh907 review was quite positive though

resuming Eldar's letter: make.believe

maybe knew this letter was coming from him and then decided to get a makeup with this new campaign.

i totally agree with Eldar and his letter. i just feel like him when he says:

...Please, don't ruin it - you now have a chance that very few get. A chance to resurrect a once-famous phone maker from the situation it is in today, but achieving this goal is impossible without a grain of honesty in your relationships with consumers, partners and press.

this is marketing make up - with the help of some colors and shades every donkey can look like a horse
its still a good step - they need to start somewhere - but a good new marketing doesn't translate into better engineering, design and production.
again, the new headset and the new marketing is a good step - i am really looking forward 2010, but they still need to prove them self
i just hope that sony finally realized that a successful sony ericsson is the only way to make sony healthy, cause mobile communication technologyies are the core of future entertainment electronics.

The W995 was harldy a success, peaked for a week at number 3 in the contracts, when the C905 was number one for ages, hardly a success

Last time I checked the W995 has been No1 best seller in the UK for the past few weeks and was singularly responsible for keeping SE's UK market share above 20% despite being the only SE contract phone in the UK Top 10 AND being taken up by only 2 UK networks - it is even outselling the N97.

source.

You're also predicting Aino to be a big flop but I predict both Aino and Satio will also fly.

Lets keep our fingers crossed that the EU handsets will really soar high to the expectations.
The features are good if not outstanding. Imo, reasonable pricing will be the key..
Satio, Aino,Yari will be the saving grace of to have a good 4Q/year ender sales figures
