Now i've read the manual, and it appears to also lack manual settings has even less than the Lumix, looks like i'll have to keep looking for a replacement for my cheapo canon A470.

Fair enough. If you require a lot of manual controls, you need a dslr I think. Most compacts don't have much to offer, the audience they're target is simple point and shoot users.
