The lens on the Pentax looks dirty for sure, there is a haze over most pictures. After 1-2 years it may need a little cleaning. I owned a C902 among other camera phones and none of them can come close to digicams, when it comes to resolving detail, noise, and depth of field the camera phones are simply no match. Nevertheless another highly entertaining thread plank. Can't wait to see the next one.

Plank is known to be biased (sorry mate), no doubt about that but you'd be surprised at how many crappy dedicated point and shoot there are out there. My W995 has outperformed a canon ixus 10mp cam at EVERY shot, didn't even have to use my best examples. Weird but true http://www.esato.com/board/vi[....]=188425&start=165#post2830923. Maybe we've raised the bar so high for cam phones that we don't realize that the gap has pretty much been bridged in most instances. I've actually been using my phones as my primary camera since 3 years ago and I don't see why not

for me.. the only thing better about regular point and shoot digicams is the optical zoom.

I agree most compacts do have crappy picture quality, probley because they've gone the same way as the phones, small sensors loads of megapixels, only real difference is sensor type still the end image is mainly a result of how good the image processor is clearley some phones have better post-processing then some compacts.
I have a Canon powershot A470 mainly because it was cheap just £50 new, no point in spending £100's on a compact that is just gonna give shit image quality.

Some shots from it are here, despite the fringing and a couple being a little over processed it's better than any phone cam i've used,

My best shot is here: http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/9274/img0407y.jpg
which came out really well.

I have a 10mp Panasonic Lumix and there is no camera phone capable of taking anything near the quality it produces.

I have a Sony DSC N1 8.1 mega pixel cyber shot camera. It pics are quite soft at times but its still better than a phone camera. Its better having at least a Semi Pro camera than a compact
