They made a hell lot of profit during their hay days. when they slacked off, they plunged into darkness. Is all for the good. @mario- Your nokia went into loss in Q3, maybe you should do some introspection before jumping into conclusions.

If they do return to profit and glory in 2010, then one positive thing we can take from the last few years is that they have had to try that much harder, and they have give us better hardware like the X10 - which by all accounts is looking like a real winner - with more good stuff to come.

One of the biggest Dutch tech sites brought this news as "SE sees sales drop by 40%".

The way I see it is sad as it seems Samsung,LG & Nokia are still racing ahead in the market. I still think
need more mid priced range phones than what they got now. Also a proper touch screen(not Aino)device to match what Samsung & LG are doing. They sell millions of these touch screen phones & although I know
sell to a different type of user if they had more of decent touch screen phone in the UK market they would sell big. If
just did what most others are doing & also at a faster pace they would kill the competition here in the UK anyway. It seems to me not just around the world but here in the UK too that what people seem to want is what Samsung,LG & Nokia are doing. Churning out affordable touch screen phones aswell as their usual stuff too. That is what I see & believe.

I agree with Bonovox, the most profit is to be made in mid-class phones.
High-end is expensive research, those costs pay back if technology is used in mid-class too.
One thing we all agree on is SE's speed, I think they never heard of flexibility.
Keep high-end high and give the market what it wants.
X10 and vivaz are a good example of a nice future.

Is there a reason why Sony Ericsson are slow when they release phones? Everyone else churns out phones likes hot cakes. I like the Aino but if they will release a few mid to low range phones touch screen and non touch screen the way he others do then they will gain ground.

i believe if the phones are cheaper they will sell more. high price doesn't really work out the most im spending on a phone is 500usd thats like tooooooo much. i want a x10 but im on a 500 budget. how many have 800usd to waste in these times even my computer cost less. come one se lower the price
se is think too big and their chest is just too high... if the satio cost 350-400usd do you know how much people would get one. at least thats what is cost in my country. 700usd is too much for a phone

In my opinion SE got 2problems: First its the overpriced phones.... with the same price you can get the same or better hardware in other brands.... And the second is that they persist in doing their mistakes from the past... talk about removing basic features from new phones like a equalizer (satio is not the first one) ... 3,5mm audio jack that become almost standard for other brands, and major firmware uptdates that other brands offer (for exemple htc and samsung with WM6.5 and we are we seeing the same sort of thing with S60v5 to a kind of Symbian^2 with nokia and samsung)
PPl wont buy a SE if other brand have better to offer... and this kind of details like 3.5mm jack can make all the difference ... so SE can blame itself and not just a world crisis

Yes & why no camera settings in Aino?
If the Aino was better priced or even the w995 they will sell more in the way perhaps Samsung or LG have sold ten million Star or Cookie phones around the world. Yet
struggle with half a million of one handset. I don't like Cookie or Star phones but thats not the point. Also I still think
need time to recover from their dented reputation it won't happen overnight. But I worry because it seems most of these savings they have made are from cutbacks. Not good. I want to see them go back on top but I really cannot see that happening in a long time if not ever. Once your reputation is ruined its hard to come back. The Satio is seliing well in the contract market here so I read but its just not enough

Isn't it so that with less profit per handset they can make a better overall profit.
