I mean in their mid priced phones like the w995 the standard QVGA is looking dated now. Nokia & some others put higher resolution in their screens on some of their cheaper phones like the Xpress Music range. Five, eight & twelve mega pixel images look horribly blurry on QVGA screens

They can still put big features in non smart phones like a 12MP camera, 3" screen, 16GB cards and memory like the Samsung Innov8, better video recording, good music features, Java apps, proper flash support.
I think they are all just scared of the Iphone. No matter how many touch screen phones there are people may still want a button phone or a semi touch like like Tocco Ultra.
Releasing nice feature phones with 5Mp cameras is pointless from SE. Give us ones with Wi-fi and good cameras mid range to top end. If you ask me many of the features in smart phones are for "geeks" now they are shifting units but some of them are too complicated for the average user. Why should high spec just be for smart phones?
I think SE won't release a good feature phone incase it outsells one of there new touch models. I went from a touch screen phone back to a C905 a year and a half ago and wouldn't hesitate to do it again!

How many LG non touch phones are there now? Last one I remember was a 5Mp slider..looked great but we never seen anything more like that. They decided to flood the market with cheap phones to make touch the standard.
Mobile phone companies plot is too mass flood the market with mid, low, and high end touch models..taken on Apple and make us buy lots of apps ££££
It's sad because Java is still good...back in 2004 flash websites were the big thing now most are HTML with limited flash right? Same for flash in phones. Anybody who wants touch screen gets one..you can buy phones like the Viewty for years.
I hear many people buying touch phones as there's little other choice, given the choice they would go for a feature phone. Course the industry works by "foce feeding" the market...bit like the 3D thing not actually better just an alternative. Very few touch phones are better unless it's an Iphone or Blackberry or HTC something with heavy features. LG Chocolate with a 4" screen?? come on who needs that you would be as good with a notebook PC.
Big advertising budget and you can sell any old tat.

Honestly ; I was anxiously expecting a "Vivaz"-like model with the Clear Audio that I have in my w995, even im,proved, touchscreen, good battery, great screen,...you know, exactly what you are saying
An evolution of w995
I suppose I will have to wait longer
Even the X10 looks promising but with no music quality--at least it is impossible to read in the specifications.
I am a bit disppointed . I as so sure that in my city, Barcelona, SE would present an exciting new "Walkman model"
We can always wait for the users of Vivaz and X10,X10 mini to give us their honest opinion about the sound.

Since SE ditched Walkman and Cybershot I think it spells the end of camera phones and walkmans as they focus on other features.

even if other features were more important in X10 and Vivaz both produce very good quality photos, even I am shocked

Ditching the Cybershot and Walkman brands may be a good move to produce more affordable phones since they don't have to pay proprietary rights to the brands. After all they're already rebranding their multimedia flagships with Entertainment Unlimited. We just need the ease of use, reliability and the audio/imaging quality worthy of their earlier flagships (ie W800, K800) with beefed up specs which is high time

It's about time they did that honestly...

Sadly I think the W995 was the end of an era.

I sincerely hope not, I would love to see A300 come to light... it would be nice to have password protection at menu level, walkman 4, an improved camera interface (two-way menu scrolling, for example) and some other nice features.
I think SE has a good feature phones user base, and they should give them the same ease of use they're accustomed to, in the form of A200 or maybe A300...
Not everyone needs a smartphone....
