I want to ask the Sato users, which have it for more than a week and can share an opinion, what is the overall build quality, could i expect some wearin of the glossy silver sides and on and around the lock/unlock button. I have the silver model.

I had the black one and I found it cheap, too light and as has been said should have been metal. The unlock key felt a like it would fall off and make some horrible cracking when trying to unlock it. I found I had to give it a good slide to unlock it so messed with settings to keep it unlocked.

The best part is the camera cover which seemed solid. Alot of dust got in the top of the screen too. The worst part of the phone is the slider strip which has been silver coated with cheap paint and it's the cheap black plastic under neath and looked quite faded.

I don't know about long term use as I just had mine a week but I found it cheap and faded at first never mind later. Be careful of the 12mp sticker as my W995 wore off and it's the same kind.

WOW, duuude. You either had bought a replica or something, or you work as an active soldier or something to do as much dmage as you explain. I have mine for more than a week and it looks just as if have just taken it out of the box...

I do not mind the weight of the phone. I have only two remarks, one of which is actually more of a concern:

1. I am woried that the chrome coated sides would eventually peel off, starting with the lock/unlock button, but as far as you were kind enough to share, this would not happen, if i do not pay extra attention on destroying the phone.

2. I hate the Volume Limitation, but i believe that the community will come up with a solution for that eventualy.

Concerning the scratches on the display, my phone has its original protector on, and i have bought two extra protectors just ion case. So i only hope the chrome would stay on the sides

Please share more if you have noticed something else.

Build quality is good on my Red and Black Satio's. My black one has the chrome painted sides which are still unmarked. My Red one has matt silver painted sides and is also fine. My red one has has more use than the black one. No fading on the red paint (where the red is exposed in the areas my Invisible Shield doesnt reach).

So far all good on both.

Nah it was a 2010 O2 UK model. Any fake ones don't have the good camera and don't even work like a Satio so it was a real genuine one.

There's no getting away from the quality as I tried one in the shop and the materials were the same. I think some say it's ok quality others disagree so I'm willing to settle on that. However for me it was the worst build quality on a phone since my Nokia N95.

My phone was never going to fall apart it was solid, it was clean and screwed together and no creeks...HOWEVER

I am talking personal view on build quality the Satio materials used is cheap plastic, too light and too much plastic, I had a Nokia N95 and thought the same..it was a popular phone though right?

My definition of build quality is high quality materials and perfectly weighted. Satio is not that for me no matter what model it is green, orange or silver. I said elsewhere the closest thing I can compare it to from SE is a K850i but that was heavier and a bit more sturdy. Satio tap your finger against the screen and it makes a clanging plastic noise If i do that against my Ipod touch I get a louder heavier tap.

The obvious flaw is it's not heavy enough so you have a thin build of the phone. Between the battery and the sides there's not much plastic. The unlock key at the side well it's clear it's just a cheap piece of plastic. For a £400 phone it's very poor. I've criticised SE's joysticks before, stickers falling off but normally the phones are solid. I feel for me Satio looks nice from a distance but when you hold it the build quality says it all.

And it's not my handset because it's my view on the materials of every production model. I heard on another forum it's been discontinued by Vodafone anyway. Not sure if SE are still making them but who knows. Can't see it being one they sell in Argos here (K800i was the last one) K850i/C905 all vanished as there faults were that bad. Satio will be remembered for the early bug failures. I think there's another update after that I'd be surprised if SE continue supporting it. Which I feel is wrong.

Normally SE do something different so hopefully they will with it's successor. Other than HD and a change of design I can't imagine what they can do.

@se80 Maaaan, I totaly respect the fact that you shared your opinion widely, but i am sure that there was something damn wrong with the satio, which you had. And what is wrong with the weight of the device, Nokias are heavy does this feature make them better, i do not think so.

I don't see how. Even if there was it was too big, Symbian was awful, the camera was over hyped realised I never needed 12MP. I don't like every phone so I doubt there was..Before buying it I preferred the look of the Pixon 12 and I never took it seriously that people said it doesn't have regular SE features. Sadly there is quite alot of SE missing from the phone.

I look forward to new LG's , Satio's successor or Samsung. My experience of the Satio has shown me I might not be loyal to SE. I use to hate Samsung's and they got boring easy so for me they put a Nokia inside a SE it just wasn't the same? But all phones are going that way touch ect..so for me if I get one build quality needs to be good and the screen has to be responsive. Before SE Motorolas use to have all the character I remember the E series and the V300 and the V500.

It's a shame Motorolas and SE's feature phones may be a thing of the past. I'm sure I'm not the only one who misses SE's familiar software. Let's be realistic compare a C905 to Satio and other than basics like camera and wi-fi they are toally different phones unlike K850i to a C905 where the upgrade was less noticeable. I was surprised C905 was a slide after the K850's touch buttons.

Bottom line is I'll no longer be loyal to SE's as there 2010 phones none catch my eye, defo won't buy a Nokia, little from LG I like and some ok Samsung's so I'll hold off for a bit. The mobile phone market's gone a bit stale for me.

One final word on Symbian..I remember people use to say on these kind of forums when will SE catch up..and so forth..now they have I wonder have they caught another audience? There's still alot of people who want normal phones with high end features, no fancy OS's? So when people say what's wrong with Satio I'm sure many of them have not been users of SE since the T300 days or K700i. The only familiar thing for me with Satio is Sony's good cameras in them. The fans of this software are in other parts of this forum.."dumb" phones or not they were still good.
