I found the
Wi-fi on/off widget quite helpful and Im using
Appolo Task Killer to control my apps etc. Not sure its the best one though. Also the
stopwatch is pretty useful.

As long the file ends with apk and you have a file manager like astro or linda you can locate it via that and click on it to install
