Google Navigation only needs 3G reception when calculating the route as it caches all the navigation data for that journey. Just have to make sure you're not rerouted or anything when you're out of signal.

P.S. And, while on Google - is Street View available on Android at all? The Java version on my previous handset (SE C905) already had it, but the Google Maps pre-installed on the X10 doesn't show the option?...
