You gotta be careful when singing a contract. Many years ago I signed upto Vodafone with a
S700i & I stupidly never read anything properly & just signed not realising they had automatically put me on a 24 month without even asking me what I wanted. Crafty but also silly of me not checking.

Yes,aswell as customers being wise networks and other phone retailers should also show upfront to customers what's on offer. Not just atuomatically dumping them on 24 months. If you look at it,the price of a mobile device now sim free is actually alot less in cost to a full £35 24 month plan. So the networks are ripping people off. The phone comes free but does a HTC Desire HD for instance cost over £800?? I think not.

I'm not understanding this as every phone contract I've signed has always clearly shown the number of months, and monthly cost even if the salesman doesn't neccessarily make it totally clear. If they don't then its not a binding contract for the period the phone company has put you on contract for?
isn't it just a matter of reading what you're signing? and shouldn't that apply to anything that you sign?

Of course it is upto you to read the small print but some people don't & get stung. That was the mistake I made. But obviously would not again. But I also have seen retailers not showing customers what they offer & then people who don't check or read what they are signing get stuck in two year contracts.

Worked out the other day it's cheaper to get an iPhone 4 sim free and a £20 a month sim only deal than the iPhone on a 24 month £35 a month contract.
£35 x 24 + £119 = £959
£20 x 24 + £428 = £908
Scandalous. £51 more to have it on contract? Should be a couple of hundred quid cheaper. Plus with the sim only you can cancel at any time. Unless the networks improve their deals then I'll be going sim only when my contract finishes, in October 2012

this is a topic about companies having to provide an option of a 12 month contracts under EU regulations...
seems like another random anti-iphone posting to me... we seem to be getting alot of those lately as people don't seem able to help themselves...
