Those photos don't look good full size, they probably put cheaper camera modules in to save money. For most people, if the photo quality on the phone's screen is good, then they're satisfied.

Yes,they do look good on the HVGA screen. But I was underwhelmed when viewed on my pc. People say the Arc is an excellent camera which I thought it was at first but it too also suffers poor detail. I am not here to deliberately slag down
cos I feel like it. I am just pointing out that despite the quality they claim it simply is not the case in terms of camera & what they say about the Arc being of premium plastics. Come on

Same goes for the audio quality. I mean wtf, shouldn't I be able to get a new device from my favorite brand ?!!! Instead I can't buy an android phone from SE cause they sound like crap and have to stick to my Aino.
I never though I'd say this but I'm slowly drifting towards Apple

I am off to try Nokia N9 Meego or Windows 7 with Nokia. At least they make quality hardware & with Windows 7 improving then Nokia may do it some good imo. We shall see. Yes,I am fussy but we should all be spending big money on phones. I know no phone will ever be perfect but
imo is far from perfection anymore
If anyone say OH THESE ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE CAMERA PHONES FIRST & FOREMOST I shall scream
they advertise this Exmor R & yet it's NOSIER
Sorry,I know I must sound like the new Toney_Ericsson moaning

i'm with bonovox.for the first time since 2004 i have bought a non s.e phone(galaxy s2).
i have had camera phones from s.e since the s700i right through to satio and the optics have been gradually worse with each new release.the only quality issues was with my c905 which had 2 earpiece failures.
sony ericsson seems to be about 6 months behind with releasing phones with current technology/specifications and by then the competion has moved on.
it all must be to do with keeping costs down but the price of the handsets remain high.
if you pay a large sum for phone you expect a certain return on quality.

Indeed. The Galaxy S 2 for example is a similar device to the Arc(except Dual Core) & both are made of plastic. And yet the Samsung is miles ahead in terms of camera etc. And why do I never hear of other manufacturers phones cracking?? Only
This cracking Arc issue is yet another device like in the past that they release that seems to crack or fall apart. Sony is not what it once was imo. Samsung look to be the new big boys of the future if not already is. @Rikken

hmmm...in my opinion I still disagree regarding the camera looking on by 40" TV the pictures look alright, yeah it's not the best, but why would it be? Though I do agree, the file size is pretty pathetic, one of the reasoning I guess they do this is to do with the speed at which it takes shots. I mean it's literally click and ready to go again? So the smaller the file size the quicker it can load? I mostly view my pictures using Windows Photo Viewer on my 22" monitor and they look fine, if I need to zoom in, I likewise don't see that much of an issue yeah there is noise but it's not that bad (in my opinion) and its after you've zoomed in a good bit...
Also you mentioned noise in the shots, I do notice this when taking low light shots without the assistance of the light, but I love those sort of grainy dim lit shots, which if stuck with another phone e.g. the SG2 it would come out much darker.

Ah,so that's why the cameras on the Arc,Neo & Mini are so fast. Small file size
The Mini files size is stupid like some were 900kb
I have an LED 24 inch Samsung Full HD pc monitor & I can see every single imperfection.

How does something like this look?
I mean when you zoom in a lot I do notice noise, but I am perfectly satisfied with that shot I wouldn't really expect much more from a camera phone, IMO
Edit: how do I upload the photo without compression?
