did you by chance not have to flash a new kernel before installing the new firmware.from experience a phone booting up to the manufacturers logo and not going any further has always been a kernel issue.

about odin only going a certain amount through the process and then getting stuck at the same point on more than one occassion sounds to me like something wrong with that downloaded firmware file.

dont worry about bricking.there is always a way to revive the phone.its just damn scary when you have a dead phone.you feel like such an idiot.then you get it back working and what do you do.the exact same thing that killed it in the first place. lol

I really dont know cause Im unsure what you actually did.
Did you have Kies running in your system tray when flashing using Odin?
That guy says you must close Kies before using Odin because it flash blocks you.Thats what could have happened to you when it stopped half way through.I dont know.Just a thought.

Display showing in a sepia kind of way????????

I really am clueless to what you have done to your poor phone.

Things always go really smoothly for me so thats why Im not much help.

I do my homework. And then some more homework until I know exactly how things are done and always make sure I know what can go wrong and how to resolve it if it does go wrong before I even start.

First things first for you is to get Kies to recognise your phone.Has it ever recognised your phone? Its always nice to have the official repair option at your disposal.

At least your phone is working again. Now just to get that sepia display issue solved.

Good luck.

Best hit the XDA forums to get assistance.

@skblakee: You must be doing something in a wrong way while flashing with Odin. I've flashed hundred of roms on my SGS and now on SGS2 and have never encountered any problem.

Tell me your exact firmware version and your region. You can check by going to dialer :- > *#1234#

I'll check and tell you what files you actually need.

Note: Be sure you exit KIES before flashing with Odin. Kies does not like Odin.

@Buntoo, my region is Latin America/Caribbean My PDA UHKG7, Phone UHKG4. I was on 2.3.4 Build date 27/7/2011. As I flashed to get the phone recovered it is now on 2.3.3

Thanks. Looking forward to your advice
