I had iphone 3g (and gave it to my sis)
And I have Nokia N900 which runs Maemo and also Android (and many more OS'es hehe)
Android seems to slow the device somehow.It's weird to me that in some aspects IOS is faster than Android (iphone is underclocked at 412mhz and nokia is at normal 600 mhz and IOS seems to scroll some menus faster.

both my Androids the more snazzy ones were a little slow at Booting up if I recall
the iPhone is definatly quicker at starting up

Depends on the power inside the Android phone not Android as a whole. Remember HTC does fast boot
