I have found out that autofocus in the stock camera application of (at least) the Xperia active is very inaccurate; very often it will focus incorrectly, making the lines and details in pictures blurry.

Now I have tried a different camera application "Camera ICS", and this one always focuses perfectly. Every single picture is as sharp as they can get for this phone:

Not yet.

But I'm uncertain about whether or not I'll upgrade, there are just too many problems being reported on the Sony Mobile support forum as for now.
ICS was designed on a dual-core phone with 1024 Mb of RAM, Xperia 2011 phones are single-cores with 512 Mb of RAM...

What about HD video recording? Is it smooth or laggy? And what about picture quality?

Picture quality is ok, it is no S III but really ok. Have not shot any videos yet
