I checked this phone out at a telco exhibit in Hong Kong recently. I thought the resolution was quite grainy compared to the clarity of the Samsung and other North Asian brands. What’s more, the video playback was disjointed, sound often did not synchronise with visual, plus the phone is quite clunky.

Yeah right........if its shown on the telco show in HK before, we should have seen the photos somewhere. That HK teleco show was on last Nov, where Ericsson only show the network equipment, no phones or whatever...........I doubt you seen this 3G phone from SE at all !!!!

Actually caff, on second thoughts, I think you might be absolutely correct. I believe I’m getting confused with another model. Sorry. More coffee please.

Actually, I saw this phone on CNN (or BBC...not sure) last Jan. It was shown at some network/telco exhibit... it was black though, not red, like it is on the SE site. I'm impressed by the features, but not by the design. Like almost every SE phone out now (except for the T200 and T68i)... the new Z1010 looks... BORING.

What's with clampshell design?

I must admit that there was once in my life when I was in love with Motorola Startac and subsquently V3688. But those days were far over. Clampshell IMO is really, really out for me. But then again, one man's meat is another's poison.

Still, methinks it is an edge over Nokia's 3G phone - 6550, i think...

Clamshells allow for a big screen, a well-spaced keypad and still lets it fit in your pocket. The alternative is something like... the SPV?

Oh, and its 'clamshell'.

The moment I heard they are gonna release a 3G phone i really wished it to be clampshell. But I was expecting more like the Japanese-KDDI-CDMA phone, theA1101s. Although the thickness is quite the same, the Z1010 looks wider. But the design looks a little cool though and yet another different design from SE.(the design looks as though they have hired someone from Samsung!!!)

Anyway my dream of SE releasing the Silver prototype, is still a dream..........
