I understand you mlife, but I think the rule that s strictly adhered to is that the host makes the rules. Take your chance if you have a great pic that 'kind of fits', there's no harm in being told by the host 'sorry it doesn't fit the theme'.

And to be fair most months the hos is quite clear whether they want the theme to be loosely interpreted or not.

I think part of the competition is the imagination you can put to the particular theme, by removing the freedom you have a lesser competition.

My photo was the second one to be mentioned o.o

Happy about it. Anyway, let's see if I can get something. Maybe at the school corridor, with people going to classes. Dunno.

@ mlife - I know it seems a little unfair and annoying but thats just the competition. Winners are decided on peoples opinions which they translate through their votes. Whether the winning photo actually qualifies in your opinion or mine is irrelevant. Some people will see the pictures dont qualify and others will think they do - so they vote for them.

This is after all the internet - the home of crazy people with crazy opinions.

I voted for the winning picture for one main reason. I actually preferred your picture but i voted for the winning image simply because it was less, umm.. artificial than yours. You set up the scene which if you read back in last months competition earlier in the thread i was moaning about. But yours was the best of the set up scenes.

9_Destiny simply took my vote at the last minute from yours because he obviously waited for the bus to come along and capture the moment. I just prefer those kind of shots. I believe these competitions should be won by the person who was the lucky one to capture something on the fly or was in the right place at the right time and snapped it rather than just manufacturing the scene. But i never get my way. Look at my entry from last month..

Original

Those bins with the numbers on were lined up like that at a family members house, i noticed them and thought wouldnt it be good for the competition. I saw them and took them. Overall i wasnt happy with the picture, its a little dull and boring but hoped people might see the more abstract artisitic attempt. I did have this other entry:

Original

But decided not to use it because it was a scene i set up - therefore against my own rules, even though i thought it was the better picture.

So, either way theres not much we can do but keep playing every month. Even if i dont win, or even get any votes i like to enter even if i disagree with the winner. Which i have on many occasions.

I do agree sometimes its hard to say some entries qualify, but unless there are stricter guidelines in the months rules the poster describes then people can enter more vague entries. I understand all your points about if you showed someone the pictures and asked them the theme they couldnt guess from the winning picture, but i think its just that other elements dilute the part of the image which is relevant to the theme.

I hope it doesnt put you off entering.

Thx 4 the congrats

I’m glad that most of you like the new theme.

@ bono – yes, I’ve used your shot because I like the atmosphere of that picture. Btw. which band received such standing ovation?

@ felimenta – as I said before it’s damn good shot. I like it very much and decided to put here as good example.

It was English singer Ellie Goulding. She's had 2 No.1 albums now in UK & US I was right at the front it was a fantastic night pity though I never had a better camera at the time.
