copy the text from the post starting from the BEGIN line up to the END line...
open notepad and paste the section you've just copied and save to a text file...
give it any name but make sure it has .IMY for an extention...
send this file to your P800...
if ur using the SE filemanager, copy it to this directory:
MyP800
Phone
-audio
--unfiled

I don't understand what's going wrong for you D_G. I just tested this again by copying the text from the message here in the forum and saving it as a file with a .imy extension. Then I copied it to the P800 and voila! I could select it as a ringtone and I could preview it. It played OK.
I don't know what else to suggest. Can some other people here try it and find out if it works for you? If it works for some but not for others then maybe you could also post your firmware versions, maybe SonyEricsson have changed something between versions?
I am running R1B.

That's interesting, because P800 is supposed to be compatible with IMY tones.
Not only is it not fully compatible (if I put any backlight or kepad flashes in a ringtone it doesn't work on P800), but the compatibility is different between different levels of firmware.
This is bad. If there is something in the IMY tone that can't be represented on the P800 like the keypad flash it should just ignore it. I consider this a bug and hope SE fix it in a later release of firmware.

i copied and saved the text to a file and sent it to my P800...
i didn't work... the problem is not with the P800, it's with the file i saved... it contained an extra space at the end of each line... i deleted those xtra spaces, sent the edited file back to P800 and it worked...
the vibra and backlight commands don't work on the P800, only the notes and other commands related to playing the tune (tempo, beat etc...) are recognized by the P800...
vibra and backlight commands were probably removed from P800 for practical reasons, since making your backlight flash and your P800 vibrate during an incomming call would consume a lot of power, drains the battery a lot quicker...
hope this helps...

Can you other guys who had a problem with the file try and do what JAYV did and remove the extra spaces at the end of the lines (this seems to be a problem with cutting and pasting the text from Internet Explorer). See it it works then.
I agree with you JAYV, it seems (from my tests so far) that the P800 ignores the vibra commands but it gives a playback error on any backlight or keypad flashes. It would be better if it just ignored all of the things it can't handle in the ringtone that it can't handle.

Jayv and digithed,
thank you guys so much. Actually deleting spaces did work and it finally has worked. But i got another silly problem. It is not saved in my music files!!! how come??!!! i saved million times and it never shows in my filed, unfiled or all saved files!!! how come??
cause when i sent the file on email as a notepad file. it has ring.imy.txt does that have to do with it since it doesnt really end with imy but with txt???
nevertheless, i was able to listen to it when it was right downloaded but the problem occurred when i saved and it never appeared on my saved files!!!
thanks

Dont have a P but I'll take a crack. Yes, the .txt may prevent the file from being saved in the audio folder. On your computer, right-click the file and select Rename. Delete the .txt but leave the .imy on the end. Send the file again to the phone and it should automatically land in the music files. At least my T68i recognizes imy files and knows to drop them in My Sounds. Hope this helps.

Try 1 more thing. Open the file again in notepad. Click
File >
Save As... Now here's the important part: toward the bottom of the save as window, make sure
Save as type: is on
All Files, not Text Documents (*.txt). For kicks, give it a new name like "ring2.imy". Send to phone. If that dosn't fix it, then its beyond me.
