It's not possible to use GPRS and still use all GSM features is it??

Not convinced that this is possible in any location although I'd love to be proved wrong (with a technical reason, not just "it seems to work ok here"...)

Hey, I have a p800 and have the same problem, I cant recieve any sms untill i turn off my phone and then i get many at once, then none again until i turn it off & on again. I use it on 2 service providers, in england and jamaica, and it happens on both. I have tried resyncing it and reseting it, nothing works! I need help! Any suggestions?

this problem can be solved by formatting internal memory

Can it really? Is that for definite because I'm having exactly the same problem but only since I de-branded and updated via SEUS....

I'm on O2 and de-branded my P990i from Orange (CXC 162037 R9EC001)

It is sometimes taking 45 minutes for a text to come through but the strange thing is that it will have the original time it was sent on the received message...

It also takes 3 attempts to make an outgoing call sometimes...

Yes it can be. i had this problem and after formating internal memory , never had this issue. try yourself and see the result. also avoid restoring old backups.

Try sim in another phone if all works fine it's the phone.

If it's still playing about it's the Network (or your area masts playing about (maybe maintenance)) or it's your sim card. Check sim card is seated ok, or clean the contacts, or consider asking for a replacement from your provider.

Also ask you're phone for a delivery report (or prefix an SMS with *0#) and see if they are being delivered within several seconds (check the recipient, a friend, has phone on and in signal first. If it takes a while to arrive it's the network, presuming the phone sends it ok (goes to Sent Box).

Also configure SMS settings NOT to reply via same service centre, and check (especially if it's an old sim - ie. you have had same number and sim for quite a while) that there is not a newer (better) service centre number to use for your network - see your provider or their website.

Dan

[EDIT: The fact it also affects outgoing calls makes me think it's NOT the phone, particularly. Have you had problems receiving calls? ie. people saying they've rung, but got answerphone/voicemail, despite you being in full signal area?]
