I honestly think the X Compact will be the battery King of 2016, the SD650 CPU is very efficient, way more than the S810 will ever be. The Z5 Compact still has very good battery life but I do expect the X Compact to do much better.

I'll be uploading a video to my YouTube channel soon regarding video stabilisation on the X Compact if anyone is interested in it. By the way the phone rocks, much snappier than the Z5 Compact ever was.

Quick macro shot comparison between the X and X Compact, both taken in manual mode but with manual focus used for the X Compact.

i think they both look almost the same. X Compact has a very very slight advantage i think in terms of focus. But otherwise, colors, exposure, detail are almost identical.

Hmm, I feel the X is more sharp in some areas and some colours pop more, maybe that is the post processing by the phone and the compact X has the more accurate colours?
Personally I'd rather use the X for photos.

A good, well rounded review. The finger print sensor and the size make it a joy to use, like the Z5.
It troubles me that IP certification has been omitted though. Sony hallmarks. Just today I was taking underwater selfies in the pool. A lot of fun but practical too.
Is it really no longer IP certified or is Sony just not advertising it as such. Not that I'll be asking you to go jump in the bath with yours XJ ha ha

In the short time I had with the X Compact it was great, one downside and this is just a personal thing, the glossy plastic although feels premium it looks a bit on the cheap side. As far any IP rating goes it could be slash resistant but I'd imagine Sony would have included it in the official launch.
