Fat chance of that. If they can get the lower tier phones to fly off the shelves, then maybe, but for now, it's high price, big margins.

Sony should get 5iv, do some cuts and call it 10 v. Cut usb 3.2/ufs3.1/8g1/8GB ddr5 and replace with usb c 3.1/ufs2.2/6g1/8GB ddr4x. This would save money. Also trade the other two cameras for simple imx used as main cam of 10 iv.

Let's list fake info on weibo about 2023 lineup: 7" screen, LTPO, exmor larger than 1.0 type, ceramic type back, 60% better cooling.
Has anyone found more fake info?

"This year there'll be a compact Xperia. No, really this time" - someone, every year.

When it comes to Sony's prerecorded presentations. I sincerely hope these stiff people at Sony soften up and get more energetic. I almost find it sad to watch them doing presentation of good products but with zero enthusiasm.

Variable refresh rate could be true if we follow the pattern of display upgrades. First it was all about 4K, then it was about 4K 120Hz, after it came brighter 4k 120Hz and now its the time for brighter 4K variable refresh rate 120Hz. So like after five years we finally got the complete display from Sony while others had it two years ago.
I really don't understand how Sony executives fail to see that Xperia flagship phone could have been their flagship product for the entire company. Xperia 1 or Xperia PRO could be a product where all major Sony technologies could be combined into one piece. It would be a showcase product for BRAVIA OLED/miniLED technology, for BRAVIA video image processing, Walkman software audio processing, Playstation 5 controller revolutionary haptics, Alpha camera flagship features, PXW/ILME features.

As spek has said before, some sacrifices are made to keep BoM not too high. Obviously sony can do more, but to earn some money, then we would see 1 series as expensive as pro-i , may not be able to sell enough to recover money. Imagine if 1 256GB was $1700 and 5 128GB was $1300 for example.

Sony needs to come to terms with:
manufacturing yield numbers - increase.
increase marketing of the product, 1 series, not just the brand. Maybe even include PlayStation and have software or services tied in - just even market heavily so more consumers are made aware.
Then ship to more countries, make BIG partnerships with carriers back again!
Example Xperia 5 we had Rogers and Bell in Canada, AT&T and Verizon in USA>
That will help revenue's and profits increase, thus far for R&D costs.

Something's interesting
BOE just start producing a panel for a customer, "4K" 6.95 inch panel with latest Q9 material, no punch hole, dynamic refresh rate (street rumor said up to 240Hz
)
Might be even using the same special 8 Gen 2 that Samsung planned to use on S23
IMX989 on Xperia
Take this with a huge amount of salt
I dont have personal access of upcoming Xperia anymore, this is based on my trusted "friends"
