HI would like to know this too as i was speaking to the assistant manager in the orange shop in oxford street and he said that i could buy the phone on a high tariff and go down to a lower tariff in a month without penalty. I dunno if this is correct or not and will help me decide whether to get it or get it online.

best deal i've ever seen was on a holland internet selling site. there the P800 costs 775€ and that isn't much.

onestopphoneshop.co.uk have the ***WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ****. I bought a phone from them, there was no coverage in my area, i asked them to check the coverage before hand, they said they did and it was excellent. They wouldn't return it, even though singlepoint the service providers they were more than happy to cancel the contract as it was only 2 days after and I had 14 days under my statutory right, Single point were kind enough to reduce my contract from £30 a month to the £15 per month. Onestopphoneshop.co.uk were rude and completley out of line, so now I have a phone with no signal in my area, stuck with a 12 month O2 contract. I even said I was willing to change the network to one that would work and they wouldn't do it. The guy I spoke to was called Chris apparantly the manager.

SHAME ON YOU ONESTOPPHONESHOP

i would also like to comment that onestopphoneshop have shoddy customer service. i bought my phone for £150 on a £27.50 a month line rental. The phone has been fine but after a week of using it im told that cornhill would not insure the phone as previously stated on their site. I therefore will not recieve the "3 months free insurance" incentive to buy. I phoned them only to be told its not our problem even though it was put on their site. I will be writing to their manager for compensation.

The clawback is only applicable if it is in your T&C - So if you buy for a high price at an Orange retail store then you prob wont have a Clawback.

However if you buy for a cheap price and high tariff then you basically have to pay 4 months on that tariff and change to a lower tariff after that.

www.mobilesuk.net cheapest prices around and next day delivery. I got mine 3 weeks ago for £20.99 on the orange talk 400 plan (£50 for first 4 months) then you can drop it right down to a cheap tarrif. Going for a 400 plan works out cheaper than paying more for the phone and going on the 200 plan. MY P800 ROCKS!!!!!!!
