i hope that this is not the new SE look - looks abit cheap
i don't know, but is it possible that the European phones are designed by Ericssons Industrial Designers and the japan one by Sony's

Keep in mind that's for Japanese market only and certainly they have different tastes than rest of the world. Since almost all of the phones over there are clampshell . I believe this SE phone is very nice for Japanese market and the camera and screen quality is brilliant for the cell phone at the moment. You may not like it but I love it and Japanese will love such design. SE will doing well with this model to bring back the market share there !

If the phone would have consisted of only the piece with the scroll wheel and the screen, without the lower half with the digit keys, then the white version would have been the coolest phone around.
