well thats incorrect cause I too have a japanese friend and they are going to be bringing down a 3G phone from japan now i would advice you guys to have a look at the J-PHONE website now owned by Vodafone I found one phone on there that showed it could work in europe. Will try and find it later

agree you found a 3g phone from japan you can use in england.
however you can buy this phone from 3 in england already so whats the point.
you said you did nt like the handsets over here and want one from japan.but the only one you have found is already on sale over here granted its not that horrible red color but still the same phone.

I have the nec 606 and it is sh*te. the p800 is miles better. the only thing that the nec does well is video calls and even then it isn't particularly reliable. they shipp it with 2 batteries and even then you'll be lucky to last a day if you use it much. i'm waiting until vodafone bring out their 3g coz then there should be better phones out. the nec is going back at the end of my trial period.

The j-phone nec707 is she same as the nec 606 '3' are selling.

Well like I said earlier that I am LOOKING so please dont crucify me over the matter, yes I know its available on "3" in the UK, and with out a shadow of a doubt I am sure I will find more that will work in the UK, hence why the posting asking for help and not slander........

If I were you then I'd wait for a year or so and see what the other networks do. My mobile bill is about £60 a month so I would benefit from the 3 package but I couldn't live with the phones that they are offering.

ok whats the chance that any of our networks are going to bring out any 3G phones with even taking a second look at.......... I can see it now T-MOBILE 3G (I would have posted a picture but I couldnt find a Brick big enough to fit in the space provided).......
