Any idea on their changes? I take it this involves imbedded Live! services etc? Don't see why they can't just do the same as O though, and use C:/sysdata to customise the unit on top of standard R1D/R2D Phone firmware.

1. DOES IT LOOK LIKE UIQ2.1 ???
2. NOTHING ELSE !!!!.
WHAT IS THE POINT OF GETTING FIRMWARE UPGRADES JUST AT THE SLIGHTEST DROP OF A CHANGE.

Agreed - I thought the point of places like this was to share information / pass knowledge. I found the info here very useful, so I thought I would contribute myself. Personally I upgraded from R1 - no one is forcing you to do upgrade.

i'd expect the next update would fix the choppy fullscreen video... now that i've finally found a decent video encoder (sorenson) i'd really really like smooth fs video!

The point I was trying to make is fair enough there is a new firmware release. What I be dismayed to see is if everyone got in to mass hysteria about what is a very minor upgrade to the part of the firmware which controls the gsm/gprs functions of the phone. Its just the same as getting a firmware upgrade to jump from R1F to R1G organiser, what benefit did those people upgrade.
All that I am asking is for people to be sensible here. What can you reasnoably expect from such a small firmware change. At the minute every service centre does not have access to R2D and those that do are swamped with people trying to upgrade as each phone takes an hour to do. So if you think about in a normal working day, if a service centre had 8 P800's in for the R2D upgrade, if they only had 1 EMMA II machine their machine would be tied up for the whole day as some service centres do. The Service Centre where I had the R2D upgrade only has one machine for flashing phones so I personally think that it would be unfair for people to go back wanting a very minor upgrade in their firmware to R2F when they already have R2D. (This excludes people who only have R1 firmwares of course).
If you look at the photos earlier in this thread you will see that nothing else has changed and everyone is speculating "is it UIQ 2.1" , "does it do smooth video", my answer to this is think logically, there is a chance of this changing when the organiser functions change. Think about what each part of the firmware does
Phone - The ability of the phone to make / receive calls
Bluetooth - The bluetooth stack
Organiser - THIS IS THE ONE THAT YOU SHOULD BE WATCHING, THIS IS WHERE ALL THE MAJOR INTERFACE IMPROVEMENTS WILL TAKE PLACE AND IT IS WHERE THE PRIMARY VISUAL PART OF THE OS IS. THINGS LIKE UIQ2.1/VIDEO UPGRADES WILL BE HERE NOWHERE ELSE.
CDA - This is all the stuff that is installed in to the internal memory ie chess/solitaire, the video etc.
So please if you have R2D, don't get in to a panic and go for another trudge to a service centre to get this upgrade, what advantage do you really think that you will get ??. Service centres are here to help us so let them get on with upgrading people to R2 firmware from R1 firmwares.

how did you get on with moko in hayes. They had my last week and ruined the phone and it had to go to celestica. They said mine was their first p800 they had upgraded. Looks like they have learnt their lesson!!
