ok, i didn't mean this particular program, just that it should be possible to make a similar program on any platform..
i'm not that familiar with applescript, but what can it do which e.g. vbscript in windows or shell scripts in *nix can't?

Ah, forgot about vbscript.
But AFAIK, applescript is more OS centred, you can automate pretty much any OS task, as opposed to vbscript which is pretty much tied to performing vb stuff and windows shell commands.
