There are two ways of looking at the world; Keep stealing (cos I don't care about other people and anyway who is going to catch me) and; Stay on the staight and narrow (and unless the rules change) I should be OK. T

he truth is that most of us have internal rule booKs (set of moral codes) that are pretty flexible. However ask yourself this:

If I steal software for myself is that OK?
If it is then what if I steal software and then send it to someone else, is that OK?
If it is OK can I set up a website to share it with thousands of people from around the world?
If it is then please post your name, address and bank account details as soon as possible because it is obvious that we can all take what you have and not pay you a penny!!

Come on, this is just an indirect link, they can't shut Esato down for it, can they?

Exactly. They can try to prevent us from linking it, like they did to 2600.org or whatever...but they certainly can't shut us down for it.

Regardless, I'm tired of people jumping on every person who posts an FTP site or whatever that may have illegal software on it. Keep your opinion to yourself and let the moderators deal with the moderator issues. I'm just here to exchange info and have a good time...people need to chill out.

to play devil's advocate here :

1) i'm for warez. i'm sure developers and software companies are members of this forum and can follow links just like the rest of us. Once they find out an address of an ftp site it'll get closed down. it's happened already. admittedly they're not going to close down the whole of eDonkey but you get my point.

2) i'm against warez. if publishing this link means that a couple of hundred users download a piece of software and the developer decides that enough is enough and drops the P800 as a platform then everyone loses out.

all i'm saying is that people should think before they post. no rights or wrongs.

@demon106

I'd be amused to see the case built against Esato that:

a) gets into court in the first place (if the developers were that rich, I don't think there'd be an issue)

b) gets the forum shut down. This stuff goes up on every forum. Esato has no liability in this respect - none that is enforceable anyway. This is primarily a discussion forum, and a bloody large one at that - unless it's principal purpose was as a means of exchanging illegal software, nobody will be closing it down. Look at all the illegal music sites that they're still trying to close down in the wake of Napster.

When I posted this I never would have thought that it would go this far. I'm sure that Esato will not be shot down because of what I wrote and yes I do also some times go to fast in my car !
I also wrote that I use it to locate god movies, programs, mp3 ect But I do pay for the good stuff. I don’t buy a car with out a test drive!

at least I paid for all the software on my P800, in total about $70 (handy day etc)
Someone passed me an FTP website with everything for the P800, freeware and commercial (cracked) software, but since I bought already everything I needed (or it was freeware) I haven't DL'ed anything, I think it is silly to use hacked software for a $800 phone if the software costs only $10 or $15, then whine this or that isn't working, perhaps because the programmer didn't earn enough to motivate further development... if you can afford the phone, you certainly can afford the useful software available.

BUY WHAT YOU USE !

Iam nothing about payng but there are programs that are really shit when you start using them I paid I think $20 for shopping list and this is just unusable. And then there are progrmas I hope not much that have different trial and complete versions. One is a cookbook variant of Appforge. The trial variant and the complete are different.
Of course when downloading from warez sites as if to try the programs, then human being is such that it is very difficult to buy something you already have free.
Most appealing must be I think the price that man buys instead than starts looking for free alternatives. And of course the program has to be good also not any half ready product with promises to upgrade.
