''The jap phones were always flip and clamshell phones while the euro design preffer normal 1s.dont know why cuz ive always liked the clamsh and flip ph. ''

this is not so. There are many many 'chocolate bar' shaped Japanese phones. I have two of these.

The Sharp GX-10, GX-1 and the Panasonic GD-87 are typical of what you can find in Japanese phone stores. I have written 'typical' and of course', there are some really super cool phones too!

I enjoy very much browsing in J-phone, Docomo, Tu-ka, Au and the multi-shops in Japan!! Great!!

The current lineups of the 3 operators in Japan show no candy-bar style handsets. The last ones I can think of are the J-D06 from Mitsubishi http://k-tai.impress.co.jp/cda/static/image/2002/08/12/d103s.jpg and the T2101V from Toshiba http://k-tai.impress.co.jp/cda/static/image/2002/10/02/t101s.jpg ,
both almost a year old.
