Quoted from the description of the Camera API (see the link in the first post of this thread):
"The Camera API supports still image capturing of RGB bitmap based pictures of three sizes and direct-to-screen view finding of one fixed size (QQVGA). All mandatory methods are supported, but optional features of the Symbian Onboard Camera API Design such as video, flash and zoom are not supported."
SE is hiding a lot from P800 developers (camera, fax, telephony details, etc., etc.). I wonder if this is a business strategy, or something else... Some insight would be interesting.

Is there a standard Symbian Onboard Camera Device API template then?
Could it be that a standard protocol for this API (ie one ported from Series 60 onboard cameras) would be comparable to this one... I suppose what I'm trying to say is that if we had a symbian API for a camera with video, comparing the two would help to find the calls for recording video...

Well, I can use the words DUMB and IDIOT to describe SE and their programmers for removing fax capabilities from the P800, having no voice recording during a call for BOTH parties, and for not including a video recording app by default... that's not just DUMB... that's absolutely RETARDED!!!! Grrrrr.... I honestly don't know who to blame for all this bureaucratic BULL$#!+

is throwing at us..Sony or Ericsson. This is really all crap... did SE piss of someone sooo bad that they are the
ONLY mobile phone manufacturer restricted from making voice recordings and video recording apps?

Cuz I'd rather have the crappiest SE phone than the best Nokia... it's still better for me... I'd actually prefer a Motorola over a Nokia.
