> My P800 is Gone!!

SE USA has done several firmware upgrades for me without any problems. Each time I call, they just ask for the IMEI # and then give me instructions on how and where to send it. They've upgraded my T68m that I bought from UK 3 times already and now my P800 is on it's way back with an R2D update. I only pay for postage when sending it to them, everything else is free including 2 day return shipping.

Probable reason why firmware u/g is so slow; this is a guess: The firmware is stored in EPROM (Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) which is NOT the same as system memory. EPROM memory takes a long time to 'burn' but is ultra-fast when being read. Also, I have a hunch that the u/g is done via a primitive serial connection; probably at 9600bps and every byte written will need to be carefully checked (checksum). Anyone support or refute this idea?

I bought a P800 yesterday and took it straight to the service center for upgrade. It took them 20 minutes (I did not try the phone before that). When I got home and started playing around with it, I found out that there is a dark vertical line along the right third of the camera preview and in taken pictures. Is this a defect in the CCD or caused by the upgrade? what should I do (return the phone for replacement?)

Hi before you have the firmware updated backup contacts but not a full backup the reason I say this is when you have the F/W updated it replaces your OS with a later one, so if you restore an earlier OS the F/W will also be replaced with the earlier one. Think of it like this if you backed up your PC with XP Home then installed XP Pro then restored your backup you would have XP home again

i am not sure if that is true!!
I had r1d, backupd phone, then firmware was upgraded to r2f, restored phone, all my old programs are back on and then new features of the phone are there too, better camera, full screen pictures etc....
