is the hissing that bad? I will buy a T610 verry soon now, but i was told the hissing isnt that loud. There are more phones with this problem of other brands.
SE will fix the problem, like they did on the T65 (was firmware-problem there) but is the hissing sound really good hearable? Is it worth waiting for?

The phone itself is fantastic, big improvement on the T68i, but the hissing sound is *pretty* bad. It also crackles when using the bluetooth handsfree.
I'm going to be sending it back for a replacement shortly so hopefully the next one will be ok!

4MB is NOT a rumour, its just that the quoted 4MB is the total memory for the phone ie including the firmware. Out of the total 4MB, only 2MB is available as dynamic "user accessible" memory.

Hi Guys
I am from Western Australia and I could not wait for the T610 to be released here so I bought one from eBay.
The phone arrived and everything appeared to be fantastic with the execption of the annoying and dreaded "hissing" sound when in calls.
I took my phone to a local Sony Ericsson care centre and left it with them.
2 hours later they called me and told me that the problem was fixed!!!
I returned to the SE care centre and tested the phone. NO MORE HISSING SOUND!!! And everything else working brilliant - as it should.
I asked what they did and they said that they just upgraded the software in the phone to the latest version available: R1A081
When I got home I tested the phone by using WAP, making calls, receiving calls... sending and recieving items (themes, contacts, sounds), sychronising with Outlook... Everything!
The phone is perfect.
The bluetooth feature works seemlessly with Window XP Pro and the D-Link USB Bluetooth Adapter.
2mb is plenty of memory since you can store most things on your PC and easily download what you want
Truely this is SE's best phone ever... from its exquisite, sturdy design to its thoughtful and user friendly jam-packed features... it is the only other phone I would use apart from my old T68i!
Thank you SE
BTW... I rang SE to settle the 4Mb debate... there will NOT be a release of the T610 with 4Mb memory available. Only as it is now with ~2Mb available for user storage
I hope this settles it.
PS: ESATO MODERATORS; please consider making a T610 forum since it really is beginning to get difficult to keep a track of all these threads.
Thanks

strange, R1A081 is what most, if not all of us with hissing T610's have... they surely must have done something else?
