No, it's not always at zero in the service menu.

My first t68i was around zero, but the replacement phone is at -3 (this is within the service menu - both phones had the display-->contrast setting at 0.

If I set my new phone to 0 in the service menu, it's too bright.

yup, if i set it to zero...it too bright...when i got this phone from an retailer, it was set to -3...

I asked SonyEricsson About the contrast settings. This was their reply:

"Regarding your concern, unfortunately the handset does not have a default contrast setting. Could you please set the contrast so that the level is exactly between the minus 40 and plus 40."
