No harm in preparing for the future though.
If you buy a BT dongle for your computer now get the best
if you buy a BT enabled thing lateron that can handle 100meters
you gonna wish would had bought the BT dongle that could handle it.
That is if the price ain't much higher.

But can be handy if you have another pc for example - you can use 2 bluetooh dongles to make a wireless network - here its certainly useful to have > 10m range.
I thought I saw a link somewhere on this site which was to a vendor that sold 100m usb bluetooth dongle for 22 ukp - but I cant find it anywhere now - not even in my IE history
. If anyone knows this site reply here ... I think it had "components" in the domain in the url.
ps Make sure that any dongle you get is version 1.1 + of bluetooth as v1.0 only supports single devices and 1.1 supports up to 8 IIRC. I think they are probably mostly 1.1 so this is prob not an issue.

No, it isn't possible to use bluetooth for a wireless network. Bluetooth is mainly used to create PANs (personal area networks) while a network, is a LAN (local area network)
However, if it is just for the occasional transfering of files, bluetooth can be used for that, but it is a temporary network. I find it useful for transfering files from my mac to my pc and vice versa, (cos its easier than making a pc talk to a mac!)

oh.. i use the belkin bluetooth adaptor, really good actually, but too expensive to buy in the UK, i got mine in NYC, and it cos £35!!
