From production volume point of view, the P800 maybe does 1-2% of the whole sales volume (and thus also generates less revenue than other mass market products from SE).
Seen from this point of view, when u are marketing responsible of SE and having a fixed annual budget, you invest more into visibility of mass market devices than e.g. 10% of your annual budget into a 1-2% sales object...
Thus is why P800 rather goes that invisible way...

They have advertised all over swiss and a couple french ones. It would suprise me that they wouldn't advertise in ny times or other big magazines.

I've seen an advert for the P800 in Edge magazine. Full page, large picture showing the P800 with no flip and an app on the screen. Some really small writing on it too telling you about it :-)

P800 was advertised in orange shop magazine. P800 was gadget of the week in the daily mail they said it recorded video (sigh). The reason the P800 does not have TV adds may be currently because demand is outstriping supply so when demand falls tv adds may be used.
The reasgn wokia were so succesful was because they got the kids hooked through customizeble ringtones and other such novelties.
