I just got a replacement keypad for my phone today.

The little white plastic tube that connects the key pad with the anchor unit developed some cracked. The cracks occured at the end where the plastic houses the metal spring unit that provides tension. Eventually, the cracks in the plastic finally got worse that it can no longer grip the spring mechanism, causing the flip cover to be limp (i.e. hold the phone upright, and the flip cover will automatically open)

I could only surmise that the cracks developed due to wear and tear. (Design flaw?)

Now, though I have a new flip cover, I'm a bit wary of using it since it might just break down after 5 months of use.

Hmm looks like we may be finding a design flaw here. But credit where due, my crack was because i dropped it - not because of this.

I am going to look at ebay for a dummy phone - sounds like a plan!

But just in case that fails i will message the people who offered above - thanks guys!

I have just tried the keypad from my dummy phone on my P800 and it works perfect. The rear cover for the battery is a perfect fit as is the cover around the camera. The stylus is also the same as the real phone as is the power button and the camera and internet buttons. Not sure about the camera lens cover but all housing parts seem to be a perfect replacement for the real thing. They must use a real phone and just strip out all the working parts.

Talking about faults, my duo card will not stay in my phone. After a while I noticed if i pushed it in and then wedged it to the left it would stay, does anyone else have this problem?

These design faults are not only limited to the keypad's hinge.

Here are some other minor things but annoying nonetheless:

* Notice how the paint on the hook that holds your style has worn off?
* The paint where the keypad's two little flaps contacts the phone's body is now shiny (and will SOON probably have the paint worn off).
