It's 10p per message on Orange, you can check the others at the MSN Mobile website.

Personally I wouldn't do it!

@P800-er

Try checking if the port setting is correct. I'm saying this because my mail server doesn't use the default smtp port (25) it uses another one.

In the P800 white paper

It explains that with some isp or third party isp it may not be able to send email through pop3 of imap from the phone.

It can receive but to send you have to write the email through the internet on the phone. It is an isp thing, some can, some can't.

Just let people who have tried to help with replies, I can read emails sent to my office at work via pop3, cos i know the mail server address.

But it's trying to read hotmail via pop3 on the phone. These no way to this then?

Yahoo has a POP3 service, but you'll need an SMTP server address to send e-mails through. I use my phone providers server.

For Hotmail, use Opera and go to mobile.msn.com as someone already mentioned, that works. Hotmail's SMS alert service only gives you the sender and subject line. I turned mine off.

Alternatively, you could get an e-mail account with www.spamcop.net this gives your POP3/IMAP access, but in addition it can fetch your e-mails from other accounts by simply giving it your log-in name and password. It also has spam filters. It's $30/year for an e-mail account. Again you'll need an SMTP server if you want to send e-mails. There may well be other similar services out there.
