if you look at the TOC on a PC for an audio cd it will show a list of .cda files which are all about 44 bytes - its a type of index.

You need to use specialist software to "rip" the music off the CD - then you will end up with proper 40mb or so .wavs.

theres plenty of software which does it.

Doesnt the p800 plays mp3s? If so why do you bother with wavs? And yeah, you need to rip the music off the cd, whether mp3 or wav, i dont recall a software to rip wavs but you should be find googleing (?) 'cd to wav'. Or if you go with mp3 i would say musicmatch. This message was posted from a T200

OK. Let's get this straight.

To get the music from a CD you can either rip it to Mp3 (using MusicMatch, for example) or just get the WAV corresponding to the track you got.

If it's a mp3 it'll have surely about 3-4-5 MB size.
If it's a wav file it will have 30-40-50 MB in size.
Either way they're huge to stick them into the P800.

Now, you can decrease the quality from both types of files.
If you want an MP3 just set the ripper (Musicmatch) to encode at 64 Kbps. That way the quality will be lower, but you won't tell the difference on the P800 speaker. And the file will be smaller.

If you want an WAV just use dbPowerAmp to encode it at a lower bit rate/quality. The quality will also be lower, the file will be smaller, but bigger than the Mp3 file.

geeezzz. i'm confused now
