No way am I sending my phone back for this!!

I can live with it and hopefully it will be fixed in the next SW build along with all the other "Features"

@ritz_
Cheers for the suggestion, I'm already using PSMplayer to crop the start of Midi files, I suggest everyone else try it as well! Not worked out how to increase volume on it very well though

If the t610 is anything like the T68i and the T300, when u go to the memory status, it will initially say "0kb" but gradually count up all usages until it comes with the correct figure. (Free space is always accurate.)

The reason is thanks to the "smart" memory management on these fones, the "usage" includes duplicated and items stroed in ROM.

To explain. lets take a picture called "test.gif" stored in My Pictures. You then use the picture as part of a MMS message. And it will be stored in the sent items folder. Now go to the memory status, and you will see that both the MMS Sent, and the My Pictures location will have appropriate sizes for this gif. But a carefull look in "Free SPace" and it doesnt add up, you appear to haev MORE free space than shoudl be available. The reason is that the phone only stores the picture ONCE in a universal location, but has "LINKS" for both My Pictures and MMS Sent. Deleting one of the items will not "release" the memory used. You would have to delete BOTH to free up the space (since there is only one physical file).

This "Garbage collection" system is good, but sometiems can get its knickers in a twist. and when the memory usage stays at zero it meants that the references may not be "accurate". just leave to phone to work it out.. eventually it will automatically sort out the mess, and u shoudl see the usage meter start moving up.

@oceanlee

well it took a li'l time to figure that out myself. i know there could be a better way around but it works for me so good enough . here's what u have to do:

1) open any midi/mmf file.

2) press the "+" button to increase the volume of the tone (can be increased upto 500%). the "+" button comes after play, stop, pause etc.. buttons, i'm sure u'll clearly see it.

3) after increasing the volume of the tone u'll click on the button with a red circle on it (rec button).

4) then a screen will pop, no need to bother looking at whats written, just press ok.

5) another window pops up and u can give the name and location for the desired output file.

6) something comes up again, dunno what it is, just press ok and u have ur ringtone ringing louder than before ready to be put on ur phone

cheers

Cheers, I'll try that tonight, hopefully it'll make some of the mid files I've got more usable!

@janahan

On the T610 it does count up the memory usage on all the other folders, but the My Sounds folder will always remain 0, and the sounds aren't stored anywhere else.

Does anyone know if the predefined items are stored in rom or in dynamic memory? I'd search but not sure what keywords to use!
