When I plug the DSS-20 cradle back in using a different USB port the PC does register it.

The green light on the front of the DSS-20 cradle does illuminate and it does make a tone when you the phone is seated it in the cradle?

The installation of the PC suite software seemed error free, and the phone was connected by being sat in the cradle which in turn was connected to the PC. I was unaware that the install attempted to access the internet, so I assume it managed to do it ok.

Have you tried rebooting your P800? Maybe the error is on that side.

how do I reboot my P800?

Is it a matter of switching it off and back on again?

Pnorris,

I had this problem until yesterday and when I disabled the Internet Security, it worked.

Try this and post your response on the forum

@pnorris

Generally, a 'reboot' means to switch off/on. However, here I recommend you hold the off button for 10 seconds...and watch the display slowly fade away......

Come on Man, get it working! The suspense is killing me....!

Yeah, that's what I ment - the power button 10 seconds. I don't really think of powering off and on again as a reboot

OK, managed to borrow another cradle last night and everything worked immediately, so looks like I have a faulty cradle.

Many thanks everyone for all your help, this is a great forum

Ahh the acid-test.

Bummer that you need a new cradle - must be the contacts on the cradle, since your PC recognizes the hardware itself as a cradle...

Let us now how easily your received your new hardware....

Steven.
