Once i dropped my p800 from about 2 metres on to a carpeted floor. The Duo popped out at an arkward angle and i had to pull it out with a bit of force. P800 was fine no problems.

Once i was putting up a shelf in my garage i was on a step ladder the p800 fell from about 3 minutes on solid concrete besides a small scratch on the top the phone was not damaged in any way.

Moral of the storyMy p800 seems to defiy the laws of physics.

It's quite amazing actually to see how much/little it takes to knacker a phone.
Years back I had a GH388 (I think thats' what it was called...), I dropped it down a flight of concrete stairs and was pretty sertain it had had it. Oh no... Not a scratch!
When I got my next phone I decided to check what my old phone could actually take. Threw it in the wall, up in the air, down on the ground... All this with all my strength. It just wouldn't pack it in!!! Finally I drove over it with my car. That killed it... And punched a punkture in my wheel.
Now my phone slide out of my pocket, when I'm sitting down, on to a wooden terrasse floor and breaks.

You make me laugh!!!!!!!!!! That is one huge ladder!!! a 3 minute fall?? and your p800 is still alive?? I think a 3 minute fall at 30km/h(which should be the correct speed) is about a 1.66666km FALL!!!!! I could not clime a ladder that high!!!:)

Jokes aside...I think if the P800 lands on one of the top corners it will crack the screen! Its just how lucky you are when it lands!!!

@Vermania you are very lucky!

People do seem to forget that though this is a phone and should be able to widthstand a drop, it is also a cutting edge piece of technology. Well certainly as far as mobile phones go.

It has a colour screen that is almost the same size as the full unit. The colour screen is also a touch screen so is fairly un protected (with most other mobiles you have a hard plastic layer infront of the screen to protect it, the P800 only has a soft sheet of plastic).

This is an expesive piece of kit, my advice is get insurance so you don't have to worry should you accidentally drop it!

Sorry i meant to say 3 meteres not 3 minutes. My garage aint that big.

I will not insure my p800 it takes the fun out of it as you see i like to live on the edge.

If you like to live on the edge why not take up an extreme sport?

Go sky diving, bungee jumping, hang gliding while wrestling an alligator but not insuring your phone isn't exactly living on the edge! It's just common sence to insure it unless you are absolutely sure you're not going to have an accident....

Thats my point, I didn't think I needed to continue saying 'and no one can be 100% certain' because I know that 99% of the people on esato don't need it spelling out to them.
