sorry. I should have said give an example of one of the filenames from DOS or CMD prompt... I was interested in the file extension...

anyway its clear this is definitly a winamp file so its not compatible with T610 directly.

Donīt confuse files playable by Winamp and actual filetypes! Thatīs just a matter of associating file types to Winamp.
On my computer ALL images open in ACDSee, but that donīt make them "ACDSee-files", get the picture?
The t610 plays .MID and .IMY files -period- and unfortunately there is no way to make good sounding midis from .wav or .wma for that matter.
Does this clarify matters or iīm just being confusing?

lol! yes I drew my conclusion too quickly. Winamp will play MIDI files and if it happens that MIDI files are associated with winamp on routers PC then they may well be MIDI... hence my last question about file extension (type) to confirm one way or the other what file type these exactly are.

You donīt get it. They are associated with Winamp. When you installed Winamp you probably assigned it to play all recognizable sound files. You should go into Windows explorer/tools/folder options/view/advanced settings and make sure that "hide extensions for known file types" is unchecked. That way youīll see the file extension in Windows Explorer eg. .txt .doc and .MID see?

i think youre trying to say that the only thing "winamp media file" means is that it can be opened using winamp..? not that the file has a .mid file extension..

i have downloaded a MIDI that is winamp media file. so a sean paul getbusy.MID will will be displayed as a winamp media file if winamp is your default media player. but GETBUSY.MID is still the root file.
