That said, you can get most modifications done in H.K. if you know where to go. They are "un-official" and offer pretty good value for money over the proper channels but if things go wrong you are at the mercy of the people who did the work. That said, they are usually pretty accomodating.

If they aren't keen on repairing or servicing any SE phones that are purchased outside of Hong Kong then they should not have said they need to "inspect" it and then charge me $150. If they never had any intentions to service my phone then charging me $150 is no different then robbery.
And in regards to anthonyjcrocks' question...I went to Mong Kok to get my upgrade. It was done in a shopping center called "Sin Dat"
