hmmm me can't get the game to work, i've put a nickname in and told it that i'm a "Mister", then it says "so your Mister (Nickname" then?" which i confirm, then nothing happens, and none of the other options seem to work

It relies on connecting to the main 'popular' server, so you'll need to have a data connection. If one doesn't pop up, try browsing to a link in internet first.
If this doesn't work, just try later, it might be down/busy.
Having said that, while I was using the beta, that did happen to me once or twice and I had to uninstall/reinstall to make it work.

i have the same thing as eleventy7 and i have 2 gprs accounts 1 says popular loaded and after that nothing, i tried uninstalling and reinstalling and browsing to a link first but none of that worked so if somebody with the same problems got popular to work please let me know, thanks :-)

Yeah - I think the proper version deals with this... certainly haven't had it crash through lack of RAM.
BTW - I've contacted handango, who are contacting the authors of Popular to try to see what the problem is. I'll keep you updated.

I havent had a crash with the beta.Upon starting the game with around 9 megs (RAM) the game becomes increasingly slower.After visiting the school,boutiques then salon,phone RAM is about 1.3 megs!! Meaning the game fails to load any more pages.(Not handy when your hungry
) At one point RAM was at 819kb! After exiting the game, the phone (v.r2f) fails to recover lost RAM even when using a system manager.Hope to hear your response from the developers as I feel if this game is produced correctly and more function is added, this COULD be a top game.
