In the FAQ created by wrath, there's one interesting thread about good charging habits.

Two of the guys there suggested to charge it whenever possible. I believe they were saying that out of their actual experience. Even after several years, their battery is still working well.
I have decided to stick to charge it whenever it is possible rule

With the standard charger, overnight when the phone is on.
I'm 2 lazy 2 use the desktopcharger.

I have a SE car holder for mine (so i can use a external antena) and have the charger pluged into that all the time so when im in my van (nearly all day) it charging, so i have never charged it from the mains

me too, but I use USB charging cable also.

I usually use a USB charger. I charge whenever and however long is convenient. I've never kept a phone for more than about 1.5 years, so I really don't care what the best way is. By the time the battery is not taking charges well I'll want a new phone anyway.

I charge when the red light is on. I think even an hour of charging gives you enough to last for a day or two.( unless you are using too much of handsfree/voice commands )
