I noticed that all the pics and the interactive demo were ABC etc.. not QWERTY and I didn't see anywhere that it said that it would be qwerty but I guess they could do it either way although the number of alpha keys wide would not make it very easy.

Think I prefer T9 anyway...

Sorry masseur... i was just busy editing that bit... I mixed up tow different things

Anyway... I just did the fastap demoy and it's not as easy as it looks

am more interested in the Delta II method, mostly because T9 on my model anyway doesn't do much for me and I do type a lot of text

yeah me too (do alot of text) but I like the T9 in T610 where it remembers words you have used when there is more than one possibility for the combination of keys. T68i didn't have that.

T300 remembers words I added to the dictionary, which is nice coz I won't have to type them out at full lenght again.

However, I would like for it to move frequently used words up to the top of the list. And I would like it to give choices of words even after typing say 4 letters, rather than me finishing the word and then selecting my choice...

yeah, again, T610 (and T68i) etc have "my words" for storing your own words but I have never understood why T9 does not have predictive text! my ipaq does have that and its great! and I know P800 people cry out for such an app...

Here's another example of the fastap system:

have you spotted any models actually available that use this system?

I still think it would take some getting used to with so many more keys but we all can adapt to these things.

I wonder though if the speed would really be that much faster than a good T9 person could go

I don't like this and i can't imagine it will be faster. I still use the good old multitap (i never liked t9)

There is no way I'd be able to type faster using this system than I would with T9.

At the CTIA Wireless 2004 conference, in Atlanta, Georgia, Digit Wireless, consumer electronics giant LG Electronics and Canadian wireless carrier TELUS Mobility announced an agreement to produce the world's first Fastap enabled mobile phone. Digit Wireless's Fastap keypad allows mobile phone users to quickly and intuitively type text messages and other data using letter, number and punctuation keys arranged neatly around the standard keypad on a mobile phone. TELUS Mobility is the first wireless provider in the world to publicly commit to Fastap technology, and plans to offer Fastap enabled mobile phones exclusively in Canada in 2004.
