Do you know how long it actually took 3G to get anywhere? I remember some guys from Ericsson were talking about 3G in early 2001.
Is CDMA really the standard in the US? We have it in Australia, but it's mainly for use in country areas.

,they say they will first wait and see its application in europe,to see how successful it is.and they will directly jump to 4G.
we have CDMA also that gives data speed of 144kbps CDMA>3G but there is one problem here with CDMA that is fixed mobility.
Currently in which countries 3G is there.

Erm yes. There are a lot of areas (away from the cities) in the USA that are simply not covered (fully) by GSM yet
CDMA has had a fully implemented netword for years... I expect they are continuing with 3G

I tried to sort them out according to speed. Is it the good order?
I had always thoughten tho that UMTS would require significant enhancemnt to installed networks, if not complete change of "hardware" (poles, antenas, whatever).
This is why Bouygues Telecom in France says they might skip UMTS and instead bet on EDGE, then wait for 4G networks...
I gotta say that if the data speed nears 400k with EDGE, I may cancel my DSL line at home!

slightly wrong.
2g systems are GSM/HSCSD/EDGE
voice will not remain on the GSM standard when changing to 3g (UMTS) the 3g will also have voice calls
