No. GSM refers to the TDMA based system used in Europe, Middleeast, Americas, Asia Pacific and Africa.
CDMA is a different technology altogether.

lulu - a common misconception. GSM was invented in France, and stands for "Groupe Spécial Mobile".
It was quickly adopted elsewhere and obtained the name you mentioned.

offtopic: Yes GSM is only for europe but alot of people say can I borrow your GSM, and they will still say it if they were in japan, why?because people don't really know what GSM stands for and they just think it's the same thing (GSM-mobile phone) I mean there is no point in being so picky

We will see a similiar phone like that in Europe late next year with a 1 megapixel camera..
But first we need to build our 3G net so we can send those 1megapixel shots to each other.. our gsm system is to darn slow now
