Finding out the reason why the drivers will not install on your machine.
Hacked drivers is basically the same bluetooth stack as you are already having problems with, with the hardware drivers for dongles that havn't yet been released with that stack.

Have you downloaded the latest drivers from the manufacturers web site?
Uninstall all bluetooth drivers before trying to install.
Make sure you have got all the latest updates for windows.
First install the software, then plug-in the dongle, when you are asked for it.

... Perhaps a silly question...

But you have enabled BT On the T610 and also set visibility to ON, and not HIDDEN ?

as for getting it to work on my machine, well ive now tried 6 pc's 4 fully upto date (patched) xp's (3 pro, 1 home) and 2 windows 98 machines.

the 98 machines seem to work the best, but still dont fully work.

I'm using a Belkin Bluetooth USB Adapter 100m (Model F8T001) and had no problems. I'm running my on a Dell Inspiron 7500, Windows 98SE, and a SE T610 cell phone. My software version is 1.4.2.10. I've also tried it on a Windows 2000 Desktop Compaq Pentium 4 with no problems.

I be honest with you, the first time I installed the driver without the directions or carefully reading the screens, I could discover devices, but I could not access my GPRS on my cell phone to surf on my laptop. I uninstalled the drivers and restalled, taking my time and reading the screens carefully, and everything worked fine. All of the support bluetooth profiles work fine. I can even receive a phone call and talk through the microphone and listen with my speakers on my laptop. That was an added bonus I didn't even think about.

I've read all of the horror stories about the Belkin's adapter and can now say that they got it right.

All I can say is that if your OS is stable and you follow the installation instruction carefully, you should be fine.

Agreed. It was fairly easy to setup my sony vaio running xp pro with the sony bluetooth dongle though I still believe that BT is no where near as simple as IR.

@DjVini,

Bluetooth works well with Win,95,98,ME, XP, 2000 etc.
Looks like you have not paired the devices before using.

Enjoy

@djvini
Upgrading window is unnecessary. Do the followings:

Point to bottom right corner "Bluetooth" symbol. Right click, Goto
Bluetooth setup wizard.
Follow thru' the process.

Enjoy
